A little about me
Hello my name is Nolan Valtierra and I am 18 years old. The picture on the left is me moving on from highschool and getting ready for bigger and better things. The picture also means to mean that I am accepting adult hood and leaving my childhood behind. Other things that pop up when I see this picture are all the good times I had in school. I feel like I have left those memories behind and have moved on to the next stage of my life.
I love to play basketball, it is one of the more interesting things about me.Playing basketball allows me to clear my head and refresh my thoughts, kind of like a mind cleanse. When I am not playing basketball I like to play video games, which also clears my mind. But, my favorite thing to do would have to be working on my car. Working on my car gives me a feel for what goes on with the car and gets me familiar with what I am doing and how I am doing it.
This picture is just me growing up! Like a baby that sucks its thumb to self sooth, playing basketball, playing video games and working on my car helps me sooth in a adult life manner.
Hi Nolan,
ReplyDeleteI like how you explain the picture of yourself right away. This helps create the structure of your writing and the main idea of this blog. I like how you not only listed your interests but described why you like to do them. We have the liking of video games in common and I agree with you that it is a mind cleanse! I like how you mentioned what the picture symbolizes too. You mention that it is a transition from childhood into adulthood, which I think is a good way of saying it. One last thing that I liked was the last sentence of your blog. You explain a baby sucks it's thumb to soothe and compare it to how you have your interests and hobbies that help you soothe and move on to the next step of your life.

ReplyDeleteCongrats on becoming an adult!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that you're ready for the next stage of your life, I know leaving high school behind might've been tough but now you can learn, grow, and make new memories! wonderful picture and you tie it in so nicely. Absolutely love the last line and how you worded it, really pulled it all together at the end.
Leaving high school and going to college is not easy because we leave some of our closest friends behind. Once you open your mind up to new possibilities, you see that there is so much more to life after high school. I hope that the college life treats you well.
ReplyDeleteI also play basketball because it allows me to clear my mind and have some fun. My friends and I play all the time and are always looking for some more players. Maybe we can get together some time in the future.
I like the way you say college is the new stage of your life and that's absolutely true. Even though we are leaving our childhood and becoming adults, we are going to create new memories during college life. We all know it's not going to be easy, but I hope we will soon get used to it. By reading your first blog, I have known a little bit of your hobbies and things you like to do. Working on your car?? That sounds cool! Not every 18 -year-old boy can't do that. Anyway, I hope you have a great semester and good luck!
ReplyDeleteHi Nolan! It was interesting to hear your backstory right away, and I got a lot from you describing just one image alone. In comparison to you I also like playing basketball, as well as video games. Like you said it's an amazing way to clear your mind of the many problems that may come along.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting you see the transition from high school to college as part of reaching adulthood. I guess I've never had a definition myself, so I kind of see everything as a transitional period to the next. I was a student, then I wasn't, now I am again. I very much see the value in refocusing yourself. I drift mentally a lot, so maybe I should shoot some hoops next time that happens.
ReplyDeleteIm glad you were able to find something like basketball, to use to clear your head like you said because that really means a lot about-getting through some of your tougher days, keep up the good work brother.
